Holiday Places

by NEIGHBORING SOUNDS

/

about

The first single from the album, which will be released in autumn 2023, is called Holiday palaces and is a driving song about consumption and frugality. With a goal-seeking bass line written by the songwriter in Blood Command, Yngve Andersen, who played in the band for a little while, and a wall of both subtle and less subtle melodies with a downstroke-drive reminiscent of Hot Snakes and Pinback. Recorded by Dag Erik Nygård, who has both recorded many of the aforementioned Blood Command's records and recently also Immortal's vocalist and guitarist, Abbath's last solo record. It calls for a big sound and many layers.

Vocalist and lyricist Arild Eriksen conveys the despair over the anthropocene age, where consumption and digitization are destroying both the planet and working life. The lyrics on the album Cold in the smart city are revealed by the album title, and Holiday palaces is no exception. It's cold in a city of self-driving buses, food delivery to the door, benches you can't lie on, care replaced by sensors that alert when the elderly need to be changed. On the other side is nature. It sprouts every year. source of both quality of life and future innovations. When you gather useful plants and mushrooms in the forest, when you dig in the ground. It is then that the meaning of life emerges.

lyrics

there is no one to share what i see Fields and meadows
they sense and they breathe We have a right to
Smell the soil too
Before you lift the shovel
