Sleepless Sundays

SLEEPLESS SUNDAYS
I feel tired of passing out before dark
and losing a vital spark of my childhood charm
It was fun but now I’ve turned into a bore
No more hospital wards
and I owe you one.
I could’ve let you slip through my fingers
Sleepless Sundays put through the wringer
It’s something I wanna do
but they doubt that I’ll see it through
I’m half convinced that’s how things are gonna be.
At times we're all invaded by doubt
A desire to blow out, a flickering flame
No shame, a drunken reverie
No pain, till you're a memory
Though I've never been the king of moderation
I did upset you when I was on a winner
And will I still shine in your eyes as my hair gets thinner
It’s something I wanna do
but they doubt that I’ll see it through
I’m half convinced that’s how things are gonna be.

Heavy Metal Saved My Life
Paula had no hope of joining the sports team
Her father said that it was just a fad
He had no idea why.
('Cause) she'd heard Young 'till I Die
She snuck in her brother's room just to play along
-----
Fon always says the first time he really heard a bass line
Was on the opening track of And Out Come The Wolves
Some values that he stands by
Fourteen songs that changed his life
1996 Less Talk More Rock

What would be of me if I had never come across you?
Music to fight hypocrisy
So crank up the stereo let’s celebrate before it is too late
Those chords that tie us all together
Oooooh if I could repay all those hours you gave me, fond memories!
So i'm most grateful for friends I've made, for your sonic embrace.

I know it sounds funny but I must confess
Heavy metal saved my life when I was depressed
So crank up the stereo let’s celebrate before it is too late
Those chords that tie us all together
Oooooh if i could repay all those hours you gave me, fond memories!
So I'm most grateful for friends I've made for your sonic embrace.

Elevator Boy

ELEVATOR BOY
I took a ride rusty old time machine,
to summer 2000 my conscience was clean.
At nights me and Fali would get lost in the alley
and sunrise wake up on the beach.
2 bottles of cava with Evelyn and Barbara,
I worked through the summer and flew out to see her.
Stayed with her family,
took ‘shrooms at a party
and when I got back I started my degree.
So where is my life,
I do see it once or twice
And don’t forget when all this comes to an end,
I’m just an elevator boy.
Jump 12 months later the same elevator,
though we’d started a new band called “Hour Standard Romance”.
Played a few shows then we all came to blows,
just a video and a cd for posterity.
The sour taste of failure,
2 goths from Australia at the hotel Flamingo,
my friends’ old blue Twingo.
It’s not about nostalgia but some things do haunt you like Mary
with a tear running down her cheek.
So where is my life,
I catch glimpses once or twice
And don’t forget when all this comes to an end,
I’m just an elevator boy.

AVOCADO
Wheels in motion and a chill in my bones
Gas stations, I'm sick of looking on the labels
Avocado is God!
I collapse down in your basement
Disintegrated
Tomorrow's friends, tonight we're only strangers (No jokes!)
Appreciated
Broken twisted necks, singalongs and political discussions
Highway police, make my heart beat faster
Go fuck themselves!
Nobody at the show last night
It's overrated
Your words and smile mean the world to us (For real!)
Appreciated
I collapse down in your basement
Disintegrated
Tomorrow's friends, tonight we're only strangers (No jokes!)
Appreciated

The Empire Strikes Back

THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK
Left no options, home evictions,
these men in suits condemn our fate
Sad ones wear frowns, kicked my door down
and marched my ideals to the county jail
Do their privileges work against us?
Now we realize we have to react.
This monopoly that disgusts me,
states abuse illegitimate violence
to maintain the status quo
Could I use it if I knew things were gonna change?
Mum’s expecting, laws rejecting
and in the end it all boils down to this
Slanted futures
they will use your paper slips to buy a sweeter life
Is there anybody to defend us?
Now they’ve gone and taken the little we had.
This monopoly that disgusts me,
states abuse, it’s nothing new
to maintain the status quo
Could I use it if I knew things were gonna change?

Wave Goodbye Coastline
02:30

Wave goodbye, coastline.
Wave goodbye, coastline.
I'm leaving you to find a bigger picture,
another state of mind.
Say hello, city lights.
A new and stressful fight,
I've won tonight.
A means to an end?
Are we still afraid?
Autumn birds scrape the sky,
they're leaving me to find a dead-end future,
established currency of life.
Mine's a different plight.
Hush the inner voices I just crushed tonight.
A means to an end?
Are we still afraid?
I'd never stopped to think about pollution.
Their repression won't bring me down.
My folks here, they talk about revolution.
My ennui's a thing of the past.
A means to an end,
and now we're not afraid!
I'd never stopped to think about pollution.
Their repression won't bring me down.
My folks here, they talk about revolution.
My ennui's a thing of the past.

Television Blows!
Do you remember when you found out Bob was Leland?
Your grandma's red curtains, they never looked the same.
Did you imagine your own death at the start of Six Feet Under,
and do you ever wonder who'll put you in the ground?
Do you connect with them or are you only dreaming?
The screen cut to black but we don't stop believing!
Did you feel upset when Bodie took down Wallace?
On Baltimore streets you can't trust even your best friends
When the credits rolled did you stop to think just where the ducks went when they flew away?
Do you connect with them or are you only dreaming?
The screen cut to black but we don't stop believing!
Television blows!

Guilty
Lately everybody's talking
about the boy lying on the beach.
When everyday the same thing happens
And you don't take the streets
We were all schooled to look the other way!
When it comes to national pastimes
You scream for animal rights
Another way to clean your conscience
As you sit and take another bite
Are all we culprits of the same old crime?
I never said I wasn’t
At least I don’t deny it
A battle fought within me
That I hope I’ll win someday

The Worst Mistake

The Worst Mistake
Looking back though me and Zack
weren’t as tight as I often made us out to be
We shared moments, absent fathers
He always seemed a gentle soul to me
Sometime late last year, he thought he had a bright idea
Took off all his clothes
And went for a swim in a fountain
Now when I see him he always ask me for a cigarette
When my parents got divorced
She drove me down to the shore
Where me and Javi would talk for hours about her
She was my first but not the last
I’d be lying if I said that she did break my heart
Three months were green, not grey
Stuck out in California
Unlike Luigi I never pay for Wi-Fi
My green illusion, a blood transfusion
It was the worst mistake I’d made until today
Three random stories, a shortcut to glory
The worst mistake I’d made until today

Logic Makes no Sense

Logic Makes No Sense
A ten year habit hard to break
a new relationship was sure to be the worst mistake
5 months later while on tour
I saw you hide behind cymbals
all my plans went up in smoke
but it was supposed that you liked girls
so I had to talk to Elias
resolve those feelings that did hurt
That night in Zaragoza!
This heart has no logic
but who listens to it
when you meet someone who is damn near perfect
5 years later I'm still hooked
with your green eyes although
Pablo and Blanca say that you are blonde
We're not dumb enough to think our thing will last forever
but I'm sure of one thing:
If we're together or we're not
I will love you no matter what
if we're together or we're not
No matter what! Forever!
I'm also pretty sure I'll always sing this song
thinking about you and with a smile
I hope you feel the same and sing it the same way
thinking about me with affection.
